How it began
In 2019, Alexandra Sytnikova brought together a team of urbanists with diverse backgrounds and shared interests. We wanted to work more deeply, explore new approaches and rethink familiar solutions. This is how Atlas began.
Alexandra Sytnikova, founder of Atlas
Alexandra is a leading expert in architecture, urban planning and large-scale project management. She headed the Moscow General Plan Institute, led the project office for the “My Street” programme, improving public spaces across Russian cities. She worked on the Skolkovo Innovation Centre and Olympic infrastructure in Sochi. Today, she shares her unique expertise with urban professionals in Central Asia.
What came next
Atlas started with projects that required a systemic approach and a long-term perspective. Working alongside regional leaders and businessmen, we developed strategies and standards. These were not short-term projects but foundations for sustainable territorial development.
Six years of active work
We’ve developed masterplans for historic city centres and pioneered strategies to protect natural areas within major metropolitan regions. We delivered the country’s first masterplan for a rural agglomeration in a challenging mountainous region. Today, we’re recognised as leading experts in creating standards and guidelines for the integrated development of public spaces – both nationally and across Central Asiaю
A new chapter
In 2023, Atlas Global opened in Almaty. We’ve grown beyond borders – both in location and in what we offer. With a focus on creative concepts and striking, innovative design, we bring a wide variety of projects to life.
